Basically, everytime a month was added or edited, the static data needed to be manually checked.
In version 5.5, static data is now referred to as default data. Although it is still set up on a separate screen, when a month is added, the default data will be presented on the Add Month form, where it can be modified if necessary. This means that there will no longer be a requirement to check that the default data settings are correct at the time a month is added.
If you later need to edit the month, the values that were set when the month was added will be used.
Caution: If you edit a month that was added before November 2008, that is, when the VAT rate was 17.5%, you will need to check, and probably change, the Standard Rate of VAT and Flat Rate of VAT fields. That is because the software will use the default values you currently have set up. For VAT, this will probably be 15%, which would be incorrect for a month that was added in October, for example. This will only happen the first time you edit such a month - after that, the correct values will be picked up and used by the software.
Context-sensistive help
To further improve the usability of the software, window-level context-sensitive help has been added. The help is accessed via a Help link in the top right-hand corner of each window.
